The Agnieszka Osiecka Music Studio - History

The Agnieszka Osiecka Music Studio is located in the Polish Radio building on 3/5/7 Myśliwiecka Street. The oldest radio building in Warsaw, at the end of the 19th century it housed a riding academy for cavalry divisions stationed in the nearby Wielkie Łazienki (Greater Łazienki Royal Park). Completely destroyed during World War Two, it was rebuilt in 1947, and adapted to the needs of a radio broadcasting station.  It recently underwent a through refurbishment and modernization. Its central section contains a large music studio designed by engineers Tadeusz Dąbrowski and Aleksander Janik. In the 1950s, it became the headquarters of the Warsaw Radio Orchestra, which was led for two decades by the prominent conductor Stefan Rachoń. The studio was famed for its excellent acoustics, which is why, during its renovation in 1996/7, the designers -  Jan Dodacki (acoustics) and Kazimierz Wośko (architecture) - did everything they could to preserve these standards. The studio was inaugurated, and named after the poetess and lyrics writer Agnieszka Osiecka, in 1997, shortly after her death and coincided with the promotion of ‘Five Oceans’,
a 5CD Polish Radio album of songs with texts by Agnieszka Osiecka.
